Dicyandiamide is a raw material for melamine and an intermediate for synthesizing medicine, pesticides, and dyestuffs. It can be used to prepare guanidine nitrate, sulfanilamide, thiourea, rubber vulcanization accelerators, steel surface hardeners, printing and dyeing fixatives, adhesives, compound fertilizers, and water purification agents.
